Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees is a network of individuals, voluntary organisations and faith groups committed to supporting refugees both here and abroad.
4 – 8 hours a week for at least 6 months
Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees needs your help setting up and running a scheme to match up offers of furniture with refugee families in need of furniture. Help organise storage, transport and a system for sharing needs and offers. There are plenty of people ready to support you!
This is a great opportunity to do something needed – many refugees and asylum seekers in Wandsworth need furniture, for example, a family with 6 children may not have any beds to sleep on. There are lots of people offering furniture, but at the moment no one to match the offers with the people who need them.
We are looking for someone with experience in logistics and the time commitment to make this work. This person should be self-motivated, like a challenge, be a problem solver with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to network and ask people and organisations for favors and support, and be a team player who can use computers. The volunteer will be hosted and managed by the Katherine Low Settlement, a member of Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees.
This would be a great project for two or more people to work on so, if interested, why not ask a friend if they’d like to help?
